Submit Your Film to the 39th Annual Virginia Film Festival Today!

Filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit new narrative and documentary features, short films, and independent and international projects across all genres to the 2026 Virginia Film Festival, which will run October 21-25, 2026.

Every Fall in Charlottesville, the VAFF showcases celebrated new narrative and documentary features, independent and international projects, fresh perspectives on timeless classics, and local filmmakers from throughout Virginia. The Festival also brings in a diverse and accomplished selection of guests, from internationally acclaimed directors and actors to professors and leading cultural experts who lead discussions that stimulate, educate, and engage. Today, the VAFF stands as one of Virginia’s most important cultural landmarks and one of the most respected regional destination film festivals in the United States.

Early bird submission deadline is May 5, 2026, and regular submission deadline is June 30, 2026. Virginia residents and students can submit for FREE!  Accepted films will be eligible for category-specific awards, including our Programmer’s Awards and our Audience Awards for which moviegoers vote via ballots.
