STORYLINE:

With time and space giving her clarity, Sally Anne returns home early from an extended business trip to Latvia to confront the wounds in her relationship with her live-in significant other, Billy Joe.

SEEKING:

[SALLY ANNE] Late 20s, Female. A career woman and workaholic. Independent, educated and contentious, Sally Anne takes care of her image and health.  She has spent the last several months studying irrigation techniques in Latvia. Tying her self-worth to her work ethic, she doesn’t rest until the day’s work is done. Her long-term live-in boyfriend Billy Joe has a knack of keeping her grounded by encouraging her to slow down and enjoy the quiet moments in life. Despite Billy Joe’s wearisome and characteristic laziness Sally Anne is able to make sure he pulls his own weight when she’s around.  Sally Anne is questioning if they are actually right for each other or have just fallen into a routine.

Must be a licensed driver. We would like to discuss the possibility of actor providing and driving their own car (not a rental) for the film as this would make COVID protocol simpler.

Shoots 2 days – $200/day – March 27th & 28th, 2021 – All scenes will be shot outdoors.

[BILLY JOE HARNAGE] Late 20s, White Male. Not as fit as he used to be.  A simple, down-home country man, Billy Joe hasn’t a care in the world for money, responsibilities, or other common adult concerns. His joyful, laid back spirit makes others fall in love with him easily.  He’s able to charm anyone into cookin’ him a nice dinner. Childish at heart and not the healthiest of shape, but mature enough to recognize right from wrong. Beneath his charm lies insecurity. Lovable and sweet, but lazy to a fault, Billy Joe finds himself dating his complimentary opposite, Sally Anne, a woman who motivates him to get shit done.  Do opposites attract for the long term is a question Billy Joe is pondering.

Shoots 2 days – $200/day – March 27th & 28th, 2021 – All scenes will be shot outdoors.

BREAK POINT

Producer: Ethan McDonnell

Director: Yeri Kim

Writer: Ashley Dean

Production Company: VCUarts Cinema

Casting Director: Anne Chapman

Casting Associate: Ashley Dean

STORYLINE:

A friendly tennis match between siblings dredges up old grudges and highlights lost opportunities.  On the court is not the only place Dean and Kiara are at break point.

SEEKING:

[KIARA] 20-30yrs, POC Female. A prosecutor. Kiara is a busy, hardworking woman constantly stuck in her daily routines.  She believes her relationship between her brother and herself is close knit but, in fact is completely oblivious to her brother Dean’s built up animosity stemming from an accident he feels she caused that ended his collegiate athletic tennis career.  Kiara realizes they haven’t been keeping in touch with each other recently. Sensing a growing distance she is happy to meet her brother for what she thinks will be a friendly tennis match reminiscent of their youth. She and her friend Rachel recall the accident very differently to Dean.

Tennis playing knowledge and skill a plus, but must be believable as a tennis player.

Shoots 2 days – $200/day – March 27th & 28th, 2021 – All scenes will be shot outdoors.

[DEAN] 30-40yrs. POC Male. Disgruntled high school math teacher.  Athletic. Dean is still living with the  pain and frustration of an accident that ended his collegiate tennis career. He is hostile towards his sister Kiara because he feels she caused the accident. They each remember the incident very differently.  He resents his current job as a math teacher partly because Kiara helped him get the position. Overly annoyed by his sister’s success, Dean is on the verge of erasing her from his life.  He feels disrespected and forgotten by much, but mostly by his sister.  He has yet to move past his lost tennis career and is taking it out on the court in one last match with his sister.

Must be believable as a tennis player.

Shoots 2 days – $200/day – March 27th & 28th, 2021 – All scenes will be shot outdoors.

[RACHEL] 20-30yrs, POC Female.  Friendly and spontaneous willing to make the most of any free time she finds. A prosecutor.  Rachel is a co-worker and long time friend of Kiara’s who happened to be there years ago when Kiara’s brother Dean had a bad accident.  Rachel’s memory of the accident aligns with Dean’s.  She is a good friend and is unaware of Dean’s animosity towards Kiara not having seen him in years.  Her legal background instills a keen sense of truth and makes her good witness.

Shoots 1 day – $150/day – March 27th & 28th, 2021 – All scenes will be shot outdoors.

FOAM SWORD

STORYLINE:

Jason confronts numerous realities while LARPing in the woods, his true north is tested in every way.

SEEKING:

[JASON]  Late teens to early 20s, Male.  Slight, lanky and physically awkward.  Jason is a nerd who sadly is all too familiar with being the butt of the joke.  Lacking confidence, he lets himself be verbally abused by his peers without attempting to stand up for himself. While on a LARPing mission in the woods he faces a hyper masculine version of himself.  The mission becomes a journey of self-actualization forcing him to choose between violence or being true to his heart.

Must be comfortable wielding a prop sword, running, jumping, climbing on rocks, throwing, bending, and falling. Stunt experience a plus.  Jason is bare-chested in an endearing yet distinctly “homemade” cardboard skirt costume.

Shoots 2 days – $200/day – March 27th & 28th, 2021 – All scenes will be shot outdoors.

[RHEXENOR]  30s-40s, Male.  Quintessential alpha male. The Barbarian version of Jason.  He embodies everything Jason lacks — strong, brave, capable, and confident, the pinnacle of the masculine man.  Fabio would be jealous. Unabashedly blunt, Rhexenor attempts to convince Jason to destroy those who are holding him back and pushes him to evolve into a more violent version of himself.

Must be comfortable wielding a prop sword, running, jumping, bending, throwing, and climbing on rocks. Rhexenor is proudly bare-chested.

Shoots 2 days – $200/day – March 27th & 28th, 2021 – All scenes will be shot outdoors.

[KYLE & two others] V/O only. Young Male. LARPing game party members who communicate with Jason via walkie-talkies. Classic masculine bullies.  Aggressive and aggravated, quick to anger and use Jason as an outlet for their anger

Must be comfortable cursing.
Records 1 day – $200/day – Will record up to three roles including Kyle – recording will take place in Richmond, Virginia on a mutually agreed upon date.

Final authorization for engagement of services is dependent upon university budget approval.
