Hello! We are looking for 6 actors/actresses for a VCUarts senior thesis short film “The Waiting Room,” which will be shot for 2-3 days, possibly in very late November (29th or 30th) or in very early December, in the Richmond area. Actors of any experience can apply. This film explores themes of uncertainty, self-discovery, and the human desire for clarity in a surreal waiting room setting.

Short Film Synopsis:
In “The Waiting Room,” Eileen, a young woman, finds herself in a peculiar waiting room with strangers who are all awaiting an unknown appointment. As they struggle with bizarre questionnaires and a strict receptionist, they begin to question the purpose of their visit and the nature of the room itself. Eileen must make the choice to see what’s beyond – to find out what’s in the next room.

Eileen:

Gender: Female

Description: Curious and seeking clarity in a confusing situation.

Receptionist:

Gender: Female
Age: Mid-20s to 30s or older
Description: Enforces the rules of the waiting room, adding an element of tension.

Stranger 1:

Gender: Male
Age: Mid-20s to 30s
Description: Anxious and seeking answers, somewhat lost.

Partner 1:

Gender: Male or Female
Age: Flexible
Description: Nonchalant, engages in conversation.

Partner 2:

Gender: Male or Female
Age: Flexible
Description: Supports Partner 1, adds to the dynamic.

Stranger 2:

Gender: Female
Age: 30s or older
Description: Observant and possibly experienced in the waiting room.
