The Adrenaline Film Project is Open for Team Applications!
Light House Studio is seeking applications for the 19th annual Adrenaline Film Project, a narrative filmmaking workshop that includes pitching, writing, filming, and editing a short film in just 72 hours before screening it for a live theater audience!
This is no ordinary filmmaking workshop. Teams will be closely mentored by working directors, producers, and writers in Hollywood through all phases, from script to screen. Participants come away with not only a 3–5-minute short narrative film (and the opportunity to win cash prizes!) but also an invaluable learning and collaborative experience that will inform them as filmmakers far beyond the workshop. Many previous Adrenaline films have been accepted into film festivals nationwide and most of the mentors are themselves alum of Adrenaline.
At the beginning of the workshop, mentors assign each team a genre, line of dialogue, and prop that they must incorporate into their film. Before advancing through each phase of production, teams must be “greenlit” by the mentors, emulating the studio and indie financing model. This year’s mentors include AFP founder and Directors Guild of America award nominee Jeff Wadlow, Emmy award winning producer Steve Robillard, Independent Spirit award nominee Han West, and Light House Studio’s Program Director Rachel Lane.
In producing their films, teams will be given access to LH’s staging and editing facilities, database of actors, and can film in locations within a 30-mile radius of downtown Charlottesville. The final films will screen at the Adrenaline Film Project Screening Event on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 8:00pm at the Vinegar Hill Theatre. Last year, we celebrated the filmmakers during a sold-out screening!
Mia Gualtieri, a former Adrenaline team member, said “Being an Adrenaline participant helped me to trust myself and my ideas, build worlds from scratch, and learn how to navigate the studio system on a small scale. My Adrenaline films are some of the pieces I’m most proud of and I would strongly encourage other filmmakers or prospective filmmakers to participate if they can!”
Light House Studio invites you to visit our website and submit your application today! We’re looking for talented, diverse teams ages high school to adult. Deadline for submitting applications is Sunday, October 8th, 2023.
