As a Social Media Producer key responsibilities would be:

Execute social media strategy

  • Working closely with the Social Media Editor, execute and contribute to the social media strategy for entire NBCWashington local media group – including but not limited to news, web, sales and marketing
  • Work with content producers/platform managers to include social media segments in their shows
  • Work with on-air talent to improve social media skills, extend reach and drive ratings both on air and online
  • Show content center how to use social media in a conversational way to resonate with audiences
  • Ensure the voice, tone and mix of content fits with the overall editorial strategy created by NBC Local Media
  • Collect, monitor and distribute social media metrics – develop best practices and action items from data
  • Work with web team and content producers to upload video for the site based on need


Community Relations

  • Working closely with the Vice President for Community Relations, build and own relationships with the local social media
  • Create and host events with the local social media community

Marketing

  • Work with brand manager to develop promotional concepts and social media contests to execute through our station social media accounts
  • Coordinate with LIM social media lead to ensure best practices spread and enabled at the station
  • Event Marketing
  • SEM
  • Ensure Twitter accounts deliver relative content to restaurants/businesses influenced by the station

 

Basic Qualifications 

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an editor, writer or producer at a major news organization or blog that creates content under tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of digital media technology, particularly social media networks and tools
  • Bachelor’s degree, journalism, political science or English preferred

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be willing to work in Washington, D.C.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
  • Must be 18 years or greater
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be available to work Saturdays & Sundays as part of the regular weekly schedule and evenings and holidays as required
