Virginia – Virginia Screenwriting Competition Runs April 3 – May 29

The Virginia Screenwriting competition opens today, April 3, and will run through May 29.

The competition is open to Virginia residents and students attending Virginia schools and started in 1988 to give Virginia screenwriters an opportunity to have their work evaluated.

During the first round, judges will select one or two scripts to become finalists. These finalists will be sent to working professionals, who will then select three winners. The winning screenwriters will be awarded $1,000 as part of the Virginia Film Festival held in Charlottesville in November.

Our competition is unique in that all entries will receive a written evaluation from the first round judges – these evaluations may provide valuable assistance in further refining the work. There’s also no entry fee!
