Roanoke- Seeking Radio Announcer & producer – current – paid

Position Summary:

Serves as production assistant, announcer and master control board operator during weekday and weekend shifts on an as-needed basis. Follows specified formats during air shift(s) and executes programming functions as instructed by station program director. When on duty, is responsible for programming on WVTF andRADIO IQ program streams as well as online streams. In conjunction with announcer/board operation duties, also is responsible for quality control monitoring of: program feeds, broadcast operations including automation systems, online streams, and transmitter remote controls as well as assuring the logged paid announcements air as scheduled. Is familiar with and adheres to FCC regulations. Adheres to station policies. Performs duties in a consistently professional manner.

Required Qualifications:

Experience in radio broadcasting and news writing, preferably in multiple station operation and program streams; experience in operating broadcast audio consoles and digital audio capture/playback systems; experience in production and editing using digital systems; demonstrated knowledge of modern broadcast operations and monitoring; working knowledge of personal computers; candidate should possess a professional sound and delivery in live and recorded work as well as strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Public radio and news gathering experience; familiarity with our programming and our coverage area.
