Richmond – Virginia Production Alliance Richmond District Meeting – Jan. 24

Please join us for the next VPA – Richmond District meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 24 featuring a panel discussion with three producers: Heather Waters, Anna Wilding and Kahil Dotay.

Networking starts at 6:30 with the program kicking off at 7 p.m.

Heather Waters: Heather has worked in several facets of the entertainment industry for more than 20 years. She is co-founder of Creative World Awards, a screenwriting development company & international competition. In 2010, Waters founded the Richmond International Film Festival (RIFF). RIFF brings 120+ international film screenings, industry panels, Q&As, live musical performances, red carpet awards, the FLOW Collective, and entertainment mixers that bring the spirit of Hollywood to Richmond. As a writer, producer, and director, Heather has been instrumental in such film projects as The People v. God; Sleep to Dream; Stillwater Lake; Trading Ages; Strive; and The Youth Roundtable Project, and more. She has served as the President of the Virginia Production Alliance since 2014.

 

Anna Wilding: Anna, with a career spanning over 20 years and multiple countries, is an award-winning producer, director, actress, writer, and former Hollywood film executive. Anna has worked on major motion pictures from “Lord of the Rings” to independent films such as her own award-winning feature documentary “Buddha Wild Monk in a Hut.” She was named as one of only 100 women directors in the history of cinema who had a film formally play commercial in cinemas. Anna has worked on the production of campaigns for commercial brands and high-end major rock music videos such as Stanley Jordan, Lenny Kravitz, the Rolling Stones, and others. She has spoken at the Cannes Film Festival, SAG Foundation, IFP, Digital Hollywood and at museums and universities. Most recently, Anna served as the Casting Director for the Oreos national Christmas commercial. Anna is active in the industry and just spent the past year based out of the White House. Kahil Dotay: Kahil has been involved in more than 150 films during his career, from super low budget films to mega-million dollar blockbusters. He has worked in almost all departments on both sides of the camera. “I still love the craft and, although I realize it’s a business, I still believe in the magic that happens when you get the right people together.” Throughout the years, he has assembled a team of hard-working, award-winning, and people-friendly filmmakers for his production company INTEGfilms. Kahil was vice-president of the VPA from 2009-2011 and President from 2011-2013. Last year he was the locations manager for the Netflix film, “Burning Sands” which will premiere at Sundance next month. He is currently in postproduction on the feature film, “Vampires in Virginia” (www.vampiresinvirginia.com) as well as the feature film, “Sure Thing”.
