Nikita Moyer from VCUarts and Spencer Neale III from University of Richmond will speak at the Virginia Production Alliance – Richmond District meeting on Nov. 29th. at 7 p.m. with networking starting at 6:30.
Nikita, Director of Administration & Academic Adviser for VCUarts Cinema Program, is responsible for the management of all program logistics. She serves as the production coordinator for 12 films and/or documentaries per academic year with 20-70 person crews, filing location permits, creating contracts for actors, locations, rentals and vendors, as well as assisting students and faculty with crew selections and scheduling. Nikita is also a freelance producer/director/camera operator, where she has shot music videos that premiered on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball, for the bands GWAR and Municipal Waste.
Spencer, Visiting Lecturer of Film Studies at UR, is a filmmaker and performance artist whose recent project includes “Bury Me By the Sea,” a 16mm silent film edited in-camera that captures the sacramental burying of a 1977 Datsun B210 as it travels from New Mexico to the Pacific Ocean. His film and video works are experientially based and explore dying cities, passing landscapes, spontaneous narratives and social subversion. His ambient and electronic music has been released on Featherspines Tape and Holy Page records respectively. He has contributed to the Sun Mountain School of Contemplative Arts as well as served as an archivist at the Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe.
