Richmond – University of Richmond Film Students seeking actors for 7 short films- April 3- unpaid

FILM 1

For their final project, University of Richmond Student is seeking 2 actors. Unpaid but link to the film will be provided.

Title: BAD RECEPTION

Logline: Two hyper-intelligent phones are faced with the realization of their meaningless existence. Shooting dates: Between APRIL 5th till April 23rd

Characters:

Henry-The artificial intelligence inside a phone who belongs to a very well put together college student. He is naïve about what his purpose is in life, but does his best to appease his owner.

Kat-The self-centered, artificial intelligence of a phone who belongs to a college student who is messy and disrespectful. Kat questions her existence, and does not want to just be a mind inside a phone who responds to her owner’s requests.

Project Specifications:

This is an experimental film (an undergraduate short film for the Intermediate Film Production class at the University of Richmond) consisting of two phones conversing with each other through their AI’s. It will be filmed on a Sony a7s, (1920×1080 HD, color), with a running time of about 3-5 minutes.

Although a non-union and non-paying project, snacks will be provided and you will receive credit as an actor and a link to the final copy. The project will shoot between 1-2 days between April 5th and April 23rd on or near the University of Richmond campus.

FILM 2

Title:   GIMME SOME – WEAVEL (Temporary)

Story: Shayne enters a journey of self-realization after acknowledging a void existing within herself.

Shooting dates: Between APRIL 5th till April 23rd

Characters:

Shayne- Early 20s, female, brunette, striking features, has a harshness. Should be okay with partial nudity.  Uses sexually intimacy to compensate for emptiness in her life.

Blue– Female, early 20s. Blue is confident yet reserved. As Shayne’s alter ego, she is trying to help her reconnect with herself.

Extras: 10-15 males. Should be okay with shooting in undergarments.

Laura Peterson, an undergrad film student at the University of Richmond.

Project Specifications (nature of the project, film format, camera used, and running time)

This is an experimental undergrad short film production, with a running time under 5 minutes.  Film will be shot with a Sony A7S (1920×1080 HD, color). This is a non­‐union project. It is a non­‐paying project, but copy, and credit will be provided.  This project will shoot 2 days max of principal photography: dates TBD. Shooting locations will be Canal Street and the University of Richmond campus.There is no dialogue in the movie, and people auditioning for Shayne or the male extras should be okay with partial nudity.

FILM 3

Title:   ONE OF THEM

Story: A sorority initiation forces Jenn to relive her past trauma, causing her to face an ethical dilemma.

Shooting dates: Between APRIL 5th till April 23rd

Character Breakdowns:

Jenn: (18-24), female, member of the sorority. Her shyness and insecurity impede her from
speaking up for the safety of others. She wars with feeling a sense of belongingness and doing the right thing.

Amy: (18-27), female. The leader of the sorority. She has power over the other girls in the sorority and values the status of the sorority over the members.

Claire: (18-23), female. A pledge of the sorority. She is naive and eager to join the sorority. Unsuspecting yet enthusiastic.

This is an undergraduate project for an Intermediate Film Production course at the University of Richmond. The film will be under 5 minutes and shot with the Sony A7S camera (1920 X 1080, HD, Color). This project will be nonpaid/non-union, but food will be served during shooting. Actors will be credited in the film and given a DVD and/or link to the film. It will be shot on the University of Richmond campus (28 Westhampton Way, University of Richmond, VA 23173).

FILM 4

For their final project, University of Richmond Student is seeking 2 actors. Unpaid but link to the film will be provided.

Title: NIGHTHAWKS

Logline: Newlyweds Jane and Scott encounter a strange man with a mysterious past in the local bar.

Shooting dates: Between APRIL 5th till April 23rd

Characters:

Rod: A rough-looking man in his 60’s. Rod is somber to a point of being menacing. There is something tragic about his aura.

Jane: A 21 year old woman. Jane is bubbling with happiness to a point of being sickening. She is very proud of her new husband, Scott.

Scott: A 21 year old man. Scott is preppy and also disgustingly happy new husband. He is overly protective of his new wife, Jane.

Rich: A 30 year old bartender, positive and energetic. His favorite part of his job is talking to his customers and sharing in their joys.

Story:

A string of unsolved murders has shaken a college town and the killer is the last person anyone would expect.

Character Breakdowns:

Beth: 20-22, female. Beth is a typical college student, unassuming and sweet. In reality, it is a front carefully crafted by an intelligent sociopath.

Carrie: 22-25, female. Carrie, now graduated, is Beth’s old friend from school. She either chooses to ignore her friend’s sometimes odd behavior, or is too naive to notice.

Title: Earworm

Story:

A heroin addict gets called into a clinical trial that promises to ease his addiction through technology.

Character Breakdowns:

Nathan – Main character. Visibility addicted to heroin. Male, tall, lanky.

Doctor – Stereotypically intelligent looking. Deeper voice with slow timbre.

Director:

FILM 7

Title: Lawrence

Story: A snapshot of Lawrence’s daily life in his neighborhood, with a dark twist.

Character Breakdowns:

Lawrence: 25-30, male. Lawrence is for better or worse a well known figure in his neighborhood. He approaches even the most troubling situations with a smile, but his neighbors find his unceasing positivity troubling.

Freda: 25-40, female. Freda, is the loving mother of a young daughter who has recently gone missing. The loss of her daughter has hardened Freda; the once warm kindhearted woman is now gruff and unfeeling.

Jessie: 16-20, female. A young woman who feels more or less indifference toward Lawrence.

Joseph: 20-40, male. The neighborhood mailman, a generally friendly guy unless you give him reason not to be.
