The 8 God: For the Love of Hip-Hop, a Richmond-made independent feature film written and directed by Jameil Player, will premiere at the historic Byrd Theatre on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
The romance and hip-hop drama follows Islam Rap God, an independent Richmond artist navigating music, ambition, friendship, love and betrayal while trying to remain true to himself and his purpose.
The event will also include a bonus screening of Betrayal: A Slow Death, a short film originally created for the Richmond 48 Hour Film Project.
