“Deepfake” techniques, which present realistic AI-generated videos of real people doing and saying fictional things, have significant implications for determining the legitimacy of information presented online. The Deepfake Video Collection project is part of the Deepfake Detection Challenge (DFDC) initiative formed by Amazon, Microsoft and Facebook to fight against the spread of deepfake videos on the Internet.
The DFDC invites people around the world to build innovative new technologies that can help detect deepfakes and manipulated media. Identifying manipulated content is a technically demanding and rapidly evolving challenge, so we’re working together to build better detection tools.
The purpose of the Deepfake Video Collection Project is to collect videos containing people. These videos will be manipulated using Deepfake technology. Examples of video changes will include adding/removing people or objects, adding completely synthetic images/faces to a video.
These modified videos will be released in a research competition. Researchers in the AI community will use these videos to develop algorithms to auto detect Deepfaked videos.
We’re asking for 15 videos and each video must be:
– different from the others in the set
– at least 1 minute long
– shots of single or multiple people
– taken from varying positions, locations and angles.
– authentic content
Videos should not contain any discussion of sensitive topics / issues such as, but not limited to:
– Discussions of politics, religion, and other world events
– Discussions of any celebrity, public figure, or identifiable person
