Come to the Richmond Premiere of the inspirational documentary “Just a Kid From Fall River” before it screens at the 40th Sport Film Festival in Italy!

So much of life is focused on achieving specific goals. But the real prize lies within the journey to reach those goals. The life of Marc Megna exemplifies this. He embraced this process from his childhood in Fall River, Mass., all the way to this very day. We must realize that we all start out as just a kid from somewhere. Where we end up is on us. And more importantly, how we get there is the true reward.

Richmond-based Director Randy West traveled thousands of miles up and down the East Coast interviewing football experts, analysts and former teammates of Megna, including Todd McShay (ESPN), Joe Douglas (NY Jets), Joe Cullen (Baltimore Ravens), Mark Duffner (Cincinnati Bengals), Chris Jones (Cleveland Browns), and many more.

Although there is a great deal of football involved in this film, sport is only a mechanism in which Marc used to overcome the obstacles our youth face every day: bullying, peer pressure, self-esteem, weight-issues, body image, confidence, healthy/clean living, focus, goal-setting, self-discipline and much more. It wasn’t the wins and losses, it was being a part of a team, something bigger than self. It wasn’t the game, it was the preparation. And it wasn’t the awards and accolades, it was the process!

In the film, former UR coach Jim Reid, a prominent and well-respected college football coach of 40+ years, states, “…this film should be shown in every middle and high school … and not only once, but multiple times. Every obstacle or excuse that kids have today, Marc didn’t buy into that. He stayed focused and never fell off the path.”

There will be a short Q&A with Marc and Randy following the screening.
