LOGLINE: An overeducated, lackadaisical urban farmer must protect his life and home after an elderly neighbor demands to be his slave.

Producer looking to cast two roles in Sold!, a short satire on class and race distinctions in America. The project explores the social pantomimes, distortions, and transgressions necessary to support such systems, and roots its artistic energy in play between two central characters: the older, dispossessed, yet enthusiastic slave, and his younger, reluctant, but wryly sadistic would-be master.

CHARACTERS:
HOMINY – LEAD
PHYSICAL: Black man, 50s-70s, any build. Must be physically limber/flexible; light stunt work required. Experience with accents/advanced vocal work required. Previous experience on stage or camera is preferred but not required.
CHARACTER: A mischievous, now-elderly former child actor, known for his penchant for provocation and inextricably woven into the fabric of the neighborhood despite living beyond the boundaries of good taste.

M – CO-LEAD
PHYSICAL: Black man, 20s-30s, any build. Previous experience on stage or camera is preferred but not required. Experience with accents preferred but not required.
CHARACTER: A slacking urban farmer, blunted by apathy and his late hood-psychologist father, unmoored by any sense of duty to the people and places around him.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS: Submission will consist of a self-tape based on script samples and extended character backgrounds provided in casting sheets. Interested actors must contact producer Bobby Wiggins at [email protected] for casting sheets and for any additional questions.

PRODUCTION: Scheduled for early Sept. 2026. In-person rehearsals to commence in mid-August.
