Richmond – Casting call for short film – March 2nd & 3rd – Paid

Seeking 3 local RVA actors and 1 Remote VO Artist for “The Observer”, a sci-fi non-union independent short film shooting in Richmond, Virginia on March 2nd & 3rd, 2024.

Storyline: A creepy giant eye appears in the sky and people believe this to be an apocalyptic or biblical event. Two very different people argue their beliefs about The Eye, the universe, and whether or not humanity even deserves another chance. Inspired by the 1960s television series The Twilight Zone.

[GRANT] 20 to 29 years old, any ethnicity man. Calm and hopeful. Mostly just fascinated by the prospect of life from other corners of the universe. Not unaware of the dark history humans have, but a bit too sure that humanity will be just fine in the event of an apocalypse.
LEAD, shoots one to two [1-2] days, $70 flat rate
Must be comfortable handling a prop cigarette.

[RICHARD] 50 to 59 years old, any ethnicity man. When Richard looks at a glass of water, he sees it as half empty. He doesn’t believe humanity will survive or even should survive. As a man approaching old age, the atrocities he’s seen in the world are enough to convince him that maybe the world should end.

[VO/NARRATOR] 18 to 50 years old, any ethnicity man. The Narrator is the observer of all time and space. Unaffected by all that goes down on planet Earth, but not unwise. His voice is calm but strong and deep.

SUPPORTING, REMOTE, record from your home studio, $50 flat rate

[SCIENTIST] 18-50 years old, any ethnicity woman. The Scientist is more important than the others know. Some might say she holds the fate of the world in her hands.
