About the film:

Faced with a controversial vote to change the racially charged name of a local high school, a black school board member must choose between advancing his career or respecting his history.

Duane Trent (41), a black Deputy Superintendent in a conservative Virginia school district, has constructed the life that he’s always wanted— a loving family and an accomplished career. When his daughter, Parker Trent (18), a biracial teen returns home from college with an appreciation for black culture that her predominantly white family has never shown, she challenges her father to use his position as one of the few black figures in their community to spark meaningful change. In the days leading up to a vote that could remove a confederate general’s name from the local high school, Duane must decide what his culture means to him and whether it’s worth risking his personal and professional affiliations.
