“Mountain of Ash”

Logline: A young man and his long absent father embark on a journey to the mountaintop in order to fulfill the wishes of his mother.
Gabe (18-25) – Jaded, angry at the world and his father.
Russell (40-50) – Has been absent from his son’s life, is doing everything he can to make amends.
We invite individuals of all ages, experiences, abilities, ethnic backgrounds, gender expressions, and sexualities to audition.
This short film contains subject matter such as strong language, trauma, tobacco use, and death as a main theme. Hiking will also be involved in this production; no hiking experience necessary, but must be physically able to hike.
Non-Union, paid, student production filming a max of 4 days between October 18-22, November 4-5, and November 10-11 (as based upon the two talents’ availability) in the Harrisonburg, VA area. No housing provided. Travel can be provided to set if needed and somewhat local to the Harrisonburg area. Low Pay, but Food + Access to Film for Reels + a Screening of this Film in a local theater for JMU SMADFest is provided.
