Charlottesville – Casting Call for Student Short Film – Feb/March 2025 – Unpaid

Brief Synopsis: John, a Catholic priest, hears confession from the man that murdered his brother. Following this he has to resist the temptation to out the killer (David) to the police as he grapples with the rules of his faith and the value of religion.

David  (male, late 20’s, early 30’s, white or hispanic) who confesses to John and is simultaneously stricken with guilt and untethered philosophically (a la Camus’ The Stranger).

Susan (female, late 30’s, early 40’s, white) who was married to John’s brother and is moving through cycles of grief and anger as the killer remains at large.

Katie (female, roughly 10 years, white) the child of John’s brother and Susan who struggles to understand the finality of death and how the adults around her try to make sense of it.

Set to shoot in late February to early March. All filming will be done in Charlottesville.
