Central Virginia – Ashland Book Festival at Ashland Theatre – May 5-6 – $35

The Ashland Theatre, in partnership with Fountain Bookstore, will host the 2nd annual Ashland Book Festival on May 5 & 6, 2023.  Tickets are on sale now.

On Friday, May 5, White House journalist for the New York Times and political analyst for CNN, Maggie Haberman will be here to discuss her book, Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America.

On Saturday, May 6, #1 New York Times bestselling author and Virginian Jeannette Walls will be here to discuss her latest novel, Hang the Moon.

Tickets are $35 per night and include a signed book.  Student tickets (without book copy) are available for $15 with ID.  For event ticket holders, passes for a private reception to follow Friday’s discussion are available for $20.

Maggie Haberman is a senior political correspondent who joined The New York Times in 2015 and was part of a team that won a Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for reporting on Donald Trump’s advisers and their connections to Russia. She was part of a team that was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in 2021 for coverage of the Trump administration’s handling of the coronavirus. She previously covered the Trump administration and continues to cover Donald Trump and politics in Washington.

She is the author of “Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America,” a book about the world that shaped the former president and how he exported what he learned in New York into Washington.

Before joining The Times as a campaign correspondent, Ms. Haberman worked as a political reporter at Politico from 2010 to 2015. She previously worked at other publications, including The New York Post and The New York Daily News.

Jeannette Walls is the author of three New York Times bestselling books: The Glass CastleHalf Broke Horses, and The Silver Star. Her first book, The Glass Castle, recounts her and her siblings’ childhood spent in extreme poverty and chaos with parents who, despite their flaws, taught them to embrace life fearlessly. The Glass Castle was a New York Times bestseller for over eight years, was named one of the top ten books of the decade by Amazon, and has since been made into a movie starring Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, and Naomi Watts.
