June’s Film Pick “Just Sing” Proudly Demonstrates Its Pitch Perfect Appeal
June 28, 4:00 pm, The Lyceum

It’s Pride month and the Alexandria Film Festival is excited to celebrate with the D.C. premiere of “Just Sing” on June 28 at 4 pm at the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum. Co-directed by Angelique Molina and Abraham Troen, “Just Sing” is a music-filled feature documentary following a group of exceptional college vocalists on their journey to one of the world’s most electrifying a capella stages. As they chase a championship dream, the film goes far beyond rehearsals and performances, revealing personal stories, pressures, friendships, and self-discovery that shape their lives along the way. Following the film will be a post-screening discussion with star Lily Castle and a live performance from Suits & Sirens, a premier a capella ensemble based in Northern Virginia. Known to cover barbershop classics and vocal jazz with their four-part close harmony, Suits & Sirens is sure to deliver an amazing show!

An official selection of the Tribeca Film Festival in 2025, “Just Sing” will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired! “I’m thrilled to be joining the Alexandria Film Festival for the Pride Month screening and Q&A of Just Sing!” said Castle. If you liked the commercial hit “Pitch Perfect,” you will love “Just Sing!” Buy your tickets below or at the door.

Dive into July Screening of “Space Cowboy”
July 19, 6:30 pm, The Lyceum

As the country commemorates its 250th anniversary, the festival honors heroic achievements of the human spirit with the Virginia premiere of “Space Cowboy” on July 19 at 6:30 pm at the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum. The film is a stunning examination of the life of freefall cinematographer and competition skydiver Joe Jennings.

Jennings’ work as a flying cameraman is instantly recognizable to those who recall the famous 1998 Pepsi Superbowl commercial starring a flock of geese or the inaugural ESPN X Games featuring Jennings and his skydiving partner Rob Harris. More than just a testament to his athleticism and ability to film complex aerial stunts, the film follows Jennings as he describes his personal mental health journey with depression and agonizing grief. The film is co-directed by award-winning filmmaker Marah Strauch and first-time filmmaker Bryce Leavitt. Buy your tickets below or at the door.
