RICHMOND – So Your Child Wants to be an Actor, a panel discussion – $50/$80 – Oct 8

So, your child wants to be an actor.  Fantastic!

But…what’s the next step?

It’s a question asked by seasoned child actors with their parent/guardians as well as those brand new to the business. Please join us for a panel discussion on how to begin – and continue – navigating the film and television industry as a professional actor, specifically for the child actor and their parent/guardian(s).

1-5pm on October 8

Richmond, VA
This panel will provide an insider look at the realities of working in the film and television biz from distinguished panelists who view it from all sides: professional children’s talent agents from New York and North Carolina, experienced parents of child actors, educators, and casting directors.  They will discuss a wide variety of topics, including the nuances of starting out, building a career, and staying happy while navigating the twists and turns of that career.

The information will be especially relevant for child actors and their guardians who are based in the MidAtlantic and SouthEast regions, but all are welcome, including adult actors, managers, agents, and anyone  interested in how the professional film and television acting business works! Children under 16 years old are welcome, but must be accompanied by a guardian.

Topics discussed will include:

  • the local market
  • how (and if) to expand nationwide
  • necessary online career tools
  • assembling and updating an actor’s professional toolkit (headshot, resume, reel)
  • relationships with agents and managers
  • being a savvy, aware parent
  • setiquette for child and parent
  • theatre vs film/television and transitioning between the two
  • managing a household and balancing family life with an acting career
