Winning Over The Kids

SEEKING:
STEVE: Any Ethnicity, Mid 30s – Mid 40s. A barfly and bullshit artist, STEVE sells dubious alternative medicine, praying upon the sick and elderly. He realizes that the only people who deeply care about him are his kids. Divorced a year ago, his ex-wife was awarded primary custody, and the judge has approved her planned cross country move. Desperate not to be cut out of his young son and daughter’s lives Steve hatches an ill devised plan that tests their loyalties.

BRIT: Any Ethnicity, 11yrs old – Scrappy, stubborn. Always speaking out in class, arguing with the teacher. She’s not a trouble maker, but she thinks the teachers can be wrong about things. She plays lacrosse. Though she’s small for her age, she’s a physical and intimidating player. Since the divorce she’s taken a more parental role with her little brother Ricky, she’s a strong source of emotional support for him. Loves her father and has never seen his dark side before.

RICKY: Any Ethnicity, 9yrs old – Kind, shy, gullible, afraid to speak in class. He looks up to Brit. Ricky is vulnerable and an easy target for bullying at school. If you tell him to do something with enough force, he’s likely to do it. Not good at fighting back or standing up for himself, and tends to freeze under any kind of confrontation. Loves his father.
