Richmond – Free Screening of “The Fishing Place” from Rob Tregenza – The Byrd Theatre – May 5 – Free

Free Screening of Rob Tregenza’s The Fishing Place at the Byrd Theatre — May 5

Richmond, VA — There will be a special free screening of The Fishing Place, the latest film from acclaimed director and VCU cinema professor Rob Tregenza, on Monday, May 5 at 7:00 PM.

Praised by The New Yorker and The New York Times for its striking cinematography, visual artistry, and compelling performances, The Fishing Place is a powerful exploration of loyalty, survival, and moral ambiguity.

Set during the German occupation of Norway, the film follows Anna Kristiansen, a woman imprisoned by the Nazis who finds herself in a precarious position when a German officer secures her release and forces her to spy on a local priest suspected of resistance activities. With Tregenza’s signature lyrical style, The Fishing Place captures the haunting beauty of the Scandinavian landscape while weaving a tense, deeply human story.

The event is free and open to the public. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration required. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Richmond film lovers, students, and the broader community are invited to experience this rare opportunity to see Tregenza’s newest work on the big screen at the historic Byrd Theatre.
