IN THE WAY STORYLINE:
In the Way follows Vince, a self-destructive, washed up rock star, as he tries to win back his ex-girlfriend Joanna at her wedding.
SEEKING:
[VINCE VALENTINE] Any ethnicity, Male, 40. A washed-up rockstar clinging to the remnants of his former glory. Once a rising star with raw talent and undeniable charisma, Vince is now a self-destructive mess, drowning in alcohol, nostalgia, and bad decisions. His reckless lifestyle has alienated those around him, but he refuses to acknowledge that he’s the problem. Vince can still sing and play the guitar and is clinging to every tendril of his once amazing mane of hair! Beneath his arrogance and bravado, there’s a man desperate to reclaim something—his fame, his youth, or the love he let slip away.
Must be able to sing and look believable playing an acoustic guitar. MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH: smoking (film nicotine-free cigarettes will be provided by production, university-required). Player wears short shorts and back of legs from thigh down will be shown. Stunt Choreography to include being slapped, smashing a guitar, throwing a beer bottle.
LEAD, RATE: $300/Day for 3 days
[DEBRA MICHAELS] Any ethnicity, Female, 31. Vince’s no-nonsense manager and younger sister. Petite, sharp-witted, and perpetually exhausted by her brother’s antics, Debra is the only person who still puts up with Vince. Years of managing his career (and cleaning up his messes) have made her tough, but there’s a quiet sadness in her eyes—she knows Vince is past his prime, but she’s not ready to give up on him. Vince is not her only client. She is excellent at her job and no longer needs to put up with Vince’s lack of respect.
MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH: smoking (film nicotine-free cigarettes will be provided by production, university-required)
SUPPORTING, RATE: $200/Day for 3 days
[JOANNA] Any ethnicity, Female, 33. Vince’s ex and the one that got away. Once wild and passionate, Joanna has since grown up, choosing stability over chaos. She’s poised, elegant, and ready to move on with her life, but Vince’s unexpected reappearance on her wedding day shakes her. Although she is in her wedding dress, finishing her make-up and about to walk down the aisle towards her dream of a fiancé, she has a complicated mix of lingering affection and deep-seated resentment toward Vince. In her heart she knows he’ll never truly change.
MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH: Stunt Choreography to include slapping Vince.
SUPPORTING, RATE: $200/Day for 1 day
[STEVEN] Any ethnicity, Male, 34. Joanna’s fiancé. Handsome, put-together, and everything Vince isn’t. Steven is the kind of guy who provides security and reliability, a stark contrast to Vince’s impulsive and reckless nature. He’s protective of Joanna and doesn’t take Vince’s nonsense lightly. He isn’t about to let the washed-up rocker ruin their big day.
