Richmond – Casting call for short film – March 2026 – Paid

CASTING CALL :
We are looking for two children and 4 adults in the Richmond/DC area for a period piece short film set in 1980’s DC. Our story is about how two childhood friends’ lives and worlds are affected by immigration laws. We are looking for our two childhood best friends, their parents, and one policeman. Below are the production details and character descriptions for each role.

PRODUCTION DATES: March 7th,8th, 14th, and 15th
LOCATION: Richmond VA

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:
ADELINA (White, 8-11 to play 8)
Daughter of Bulgarian immigrants. Imaginative, bold, and instantly drawn to Marvin. She moves through the world with curiosity and a quiet confidence that makes her easy to root for.

MARVIN (Black, 8-11 to play 8)
Son of a Black convenience store owner. Quiet, creative, and thoughtful. He loves playing pretend and dress-up and has a sensitivity and wisdom well beyond his age. MUST BE COMFORTABLE PLAYING DRESS UP AND WEARING FACE PAINT.

RICHARD (Black, 35-40)
Marvin’s father and the owner of the neighborhood convenience store. Warm, generous, and deeply community-minded. Best friends with Petar and unafraid to help him, even when it means paying him under the table.

PETAR (White, 35-40)
Adelina’s father and a Bulgarian immigrant. Protective, loyal, and soft-spoken. He carries the stress of providing for his family with a quiet determination.

YANA (White, 35-40)
Adelina’s mother and a Bulgarian immigrant. Caring, practical, and firm when she needs to be. She is the steady force that keeps her family grounded.

POLICEMAN (White, 32-38)
A no-nonsense officer whose internalized racism shows through in subtle but unmistakable ways during his interactions with Richard and Petar. He represents the tension and fear the families navigate in their daily lives.
