What do you get when you combine hand-drawn animation with original choreography to tell an important story? Something like this Anti-Bullying PSA recently released by the National Academies of Science and produced by The Duke & the Duck here in DC. If you’d like more insight than their behind the scenes blog post, come and hear from the artists how they built the story from the ground up and what mistakes they made along the way.
The Duke & the Duck:
Dave Ellington is the senior animator and co-founder of The Duke & the Duck, an animation firm in Washington DC. He specializes in creating highly inspired motion graphic videos
and in the last few years has heavily explored the use and application of 360º
video. Dave has worked as the lead artist in producing 360º video experiences
for The Duke & the Duck as well as its clients.
Founded in November of 2009, The Duke & the Duck has always been about one thing: telling good stories. Whether for education, entertainment, or inspiration, stories are at the core of our humanity. Our name deliberately evokes this age-old obsession with stories by sounding like a fable, The Duke & the Duck, but without coming with the baggage of an already existing
tale.
