Richmond – Richmond International Film Festival – April 23-29 – FEE

All tickets are now on sale for the Richmond International Film & Music festival held in Richmond April 23 – 29. There will be more than 160 films from around the world, plus more than 50 musicians in many genres from hip hop to rock, folk to R&B. Take some time and explore the RIFF Website for tickets and information. You can purchase single tickets or an all–access pass or a five film or five music pass (at $40, it’s a great value).

 

Richmond International Film Festival Events
The 2018 RIFF Closing Night film will be horror film “Buckout Road” and will screen with special guest Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon, Dreamgirls, Beyond the Lights) and Director Matthew Currie Holmes on Sunday, April 29th at 5pm at the Byrd Theatre.

Other major RIFF film events include:

NONA: Tuesday, April 24. 7:15 pm, Byrd Theatre.  A film about the dark world of human trafficking. The opening night film is NONA, starring actress Kate Bosworth and written and directed by her husband Michael PolishBoth will be here for a red carpet screening of their film and a discussion following.

ABOVE THE DROWNING SEA:  Thursday, April 26, 8:00pm, Byrd Theatre.  A documentary about WWII Jewish refugees and their daring escape to Shanghai.  Discussion with filmmakers René Balcer and Carolyn Hsu-Balcer. 

MILITARY SPOTLIGHT: Sunday, April 29, 2:15 pm. America’s military is honored with two films, the feature film Thank You for Your Service and the short film The Warrior. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion. Sponsored by the Virginia Film Office.

MAKE A FILM FOUNDATION SPOTLIGHT: Saturday, April 28, 1:50 pm, Byrd Theatre.
Make a Film Foundation grants film wishes to children who have serious or life-threatening medical conditions by teaming them with noted writers, directors, producers and actors who help them to create short film legacies. The Black Ghiandola stars grant recipient, 16 year old Anthony Conti and was directed by Catherine Hardwick, Sam Raimi, Theodore Melfi. Shown with the film Last Life. 

VOLTAGE Thursday April 26TH 9 pm, Hofheimer Building. A night of underground electronic music that featuring Samuel Roukin (the villainous John Graves Simcoe on AMC’s TURN: Washington’s Spies) and a host of hot electronic talent. Roukin’s pop-up nightclub tours the US promoting emerging electronic talent.
