The Richmond International Film Festival has just made a wonderful offer to all friends of the Virginia Film Office. The Festival has made tickets available to the screening of TALES OF MEXICO, showing at 6:15 at the Byrd Theatre in Richmond on Thursday, March 2. Just come to the door and mention the Film Office, and you can get in to see this remarkable film. You may bring a guest if you wish. We advise you to arrive thirty minutes before the show if possible, as seating is available until capacity is reached.
ABOUT THE FILM:
Using multiple directors, TALES OF MEXICO delivers eight distinctive stories, all in the same single room, spanning the last century of Mexico. Each story takes place in a crucial moment of modern Mexico, marking the evolution not only of its tenants, but of the whole society throughout the twentieth century.
Award-winning French actress Irène Jacob will be the special guest for the evening. Jacob is a French-Swiss actress, considered one of the preeminent actresses of her generation. Known for her work with Polish film director Krzysztof Kieślowski, she won the 1991 Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress for his film The Double Life of Véronique. She has made numerous films including her first film, Louis Malle’s “Au revoir, les enfants”. American audiences are also familiar with her work as a series regular on the Showtime television series The Affair. Ms. Jacobs is an accomplished singer and following the screening, she and her singer-songwriter brother Francis will be presenting songs from their latest album “En Bas De Chez Moi at 9 pm at the Hoffheimer building, 2818 West Broad St. in Richmond.
