Video Engineer / Camera Shader

Location:

SW Washington, DC

Job Summary:

Responsible for engineering, operations, and maintenance of studio video production equipment within a government studio and audiovisual support for meeting facilities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Experience in engineering aspects of the total video production workflow including camera shading, video routing, and QC – incorporating live, on demand, traditional and social media

Understanding and skills with video head ends, video transport, and troubleshooting audio and video issues

Knowledge in HD video, video compression, program switchers, digital playout, satellite uplinks/downlinks and HD fiber circuits

Understanding of video streaming technologies

Ability to work in an IP / video convergent workflow to support the completion of projects and assist in troubleshooting with IT centric team members

Experience with Video Teleconferencing Systems (VTC) including Cisco SX80 and C-series.

Experience with multi-camera productions (Sony and Canon) post production processes (AVID), and AV environments

Ability to isolate and troubleshoot failed equipment, facility issues, and other network components

Able to operate in multitasking environments, with interrupts and priority changes

Responsibilities

Service as technical liaison for television facilities and remote shoots

Test and maintain equipment for optimal readiness

Manage updates of pertinent in house CAD drawings

Cross team collaboration during live and studio productions

Guidance to FT AV Production Specialists on site with daily tasks

Occasionally fulfill operator role for studio productions

Assist in developing and implementing best practice in HD video and audio strategies and processes by research and recommendation of new equipment, services, and software

Support Program Manager and Government clients with special programs and projects

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree

Broad level of experience and expertise installing and maintaining electronic equipment located in the studio. The equipment will cover all aspects of a sophisticated and state of the art television facility

Component level troubleshooting and repair

6+ years’ experience in Video Engineering in multi-camera studio and AV environments

Understanding and experience in live video productions and post-production processes.
