Washington DC- Documentary film writer Position Available- 9/20

FLOWSTATE Films, LLC is hiring an experienced documentary film writer for our historical documentary, Black Diplomacy (wt), which tells the story of three African American diplomats who served the U.S. during the Cold War and broke through a legacy of racial barriers along the way. The film also takes a look at how America’s race relations, at the height of the civil rights movement, impacted our legitimacy abroad as we fought an ideological battle against communism.

We are thrilled the NEH has awarded a scripting grant to the project which is executive produced by Sam Pollard and has an esteemed team of humanities scholars.

The writer should have experience and credits for hour-long historical documentaries for television, such as National PBS programming.  The writer will work very closely with the production team based in the Washington DC area as well as with scholars on the development of the script. Candidate must be highly collaborative and open to feedback. Experience and knowledge writing about African American history, American race relations and identity, and the Cold War a huge plus. Experience writing scripts for NEH production grants also a plus.

Please send CV, cover letter, references and work samples to: leola@flowstatefilms.com

We will accept applications through Tuesday, September 20th 2016 with the intended kick-off in mid-October.  Script will need to be finished by July 2017.
