Rosebud Film Festival – Accepting Submissions from VA, DC, MD Filmmakers

The Rosebud Film Festival and Arlington Independent Media now invite DC, Maryland, and Virginia film and video artists to submit entries to the 2017 festival.

For over 20 years, the competition has recognized and honored the innovative, unusual, experimental, and deeply personal in regional film and video making. All film types are welcome, including features, shorts, fiction, documentary, experimental, animated, and music videos. The competition is open exclusively to DC, Maryland, and Virginia filmmakers with works first released between January 1, 2015, and November 7, 2016.

Each year an independent panel selects 20 nominees from all entries received. This year’s festival will be kicked off with a special opening night feature, followed by a mix and mingle on Friday, January 27, 2017. The nominees’ work will be screened at a special Nominee Showcase on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Spectrum Theater.

The five winners—including one Best of Show—will be announced at a gala awards celebration on the evening of Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Clarendon Ballroom. In addition to promotional opportunities and special screenings, the five winners will each receive $1,000 cash.

The deadlines and entry fees are as follows: Early bird deadline is September 1, 2016, for $30; regular deadline is October 1, 2016, for $35; late deadline is November 7, 2016, for $40. Students pay a fixed $25 (per entry) when registering with a current, valid school e-mail address. All entry levels include a one-year membership at Arlington Independent Media.
