– ABOUT RIFF –

Now considered one of the largest international competitive festivals in the Mid-Atlantic, RIFF is an inclusive and spirited festival designed to honor true film artists that welcomes produced films, music videos and screenplays of all genres and niches.

This one-of-a-kind festival offers a collaborative environment with more than 120 films selected for screenings, plus industry panels, filmmaker Q&As, live musical performances, and entertainment mixers that usher the spirit of Hollywood into multiple venues including Virginia’s historic Byrd Theater. USA Today touted Byrd Theater as “one of the top 10 places to still see a movie in splendor in the United States.”

RIFF Alum Orlando Jones and Noam Dromi share, “The talent, expertise and quality film curation by the RIFF team has made the Richmond film scene a force to be reckoned with. Our experience with showing Tainted Love at the 2014 festival and the good fortune we had in receiving numerous awards was truly unforgettable and we look forward to bringing our future projects back to share with the community.” RIFF welcomes produced films, music videos, and screenplays of all genres — including short-form and feature-length works. Official Selection filmmakers enjoy complimentary festival passes to festival events and screenings.

Festival attendees also benefit from Q&A sessions following screenings, and are invited to attend several special events throughout festival week including the FLOW Collective Creative Conference with panel discussions on topics such as cinematography, marketing, distribution, script development, pitch sessions and more.

New in 2017, the festival expands its annual music showcase to include local, regional, and national bands that will perform at various venues around RVA. On top of providing great entertainment from some of the music industry’s hottest talent, RIFF utilizes this area as a platform for filmmakers and musicians to forge new working relationships.

With the aim of promoting both award-winning established filmmakers and discovering up-and-coming talent, RIFF works to promote its participating filmmakers and writers through various media outlets and production partners.

Narratives, Docs, Screenplays, Music Videos, Experimental, Animation, Web Series, and more are invited to submit – qualify your project today!
