Richmond – 3 week intermediate on-camera class – Sept 11, 18, 25 – $125

John Moon will be conducting an intermediate on-camera workshop for actors interested in learning more about how to work in film and television.

This 3 evening 9-hour workshop will take place on Tuesdays, September 11, 18 and 25 from 7-10pm. Class size is limited to 6 performers to provide ample time for everyone to work.  Participants’ work is also recorded so that actors can learn from watching their progress as well as classmates. The price for the class is $125

The focus will be on understanding the differences between performing on stage versus performing in front of the camera. Be aware that this is not a “how to act” class. For that reason John can only accept actors with a minimum of 3-5 years experience. The emphasis is on helping you modulate and adjust your existing process for the technical demands of film work as well as develop an improvisational approach to scene work. If you have taken my basic class you can sign up or please contact me if you have questions.

The first week will focus on monologues and working in close-up. In weeks two and three we switch to scenes focusing on active listening and discovering how your scene partner helps shape your performance.

Besides scene work, some of the topics covered:

  • What to expect in the audition.
  • How to stand out in the audition.
  • On-line as well as local casting resources.
  • Self-taping strategies.
  • Preparing for the shoot.
  • What to expect once you are on the set.
