DC – PBS NewsHour Seeking Production Assistant – ASAP

PBS NewsHour is looking for a Production Assistant, Media Assets (PA) to work with the Media Assets team, performing a variety of tasks related to the management and archiving of PBS NewsHour media assets (both digital and tape) and support for the production work of the PBS NewsHour.  The PA exercises independent judgment and collaborates with producers, technicians and other members of the PBS NewsHour organization, for the daily broadcast and online content.

Primary responsibilities include assisting and monitoring footage for the PBS NewsHour Media Management system, entering data into the legacy Library archival database, and researching and fulfilling video requests for producers. Further, the PA will edit and duplicate video for clients, guests, and others, as necessary, using editing programs, such as Avid Media Composer, Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro.  Additionally, they will provide production assistance, and assist in curation of incoming footage; including field footage, outside-sourced footage and News source footage from providers including APTN, Reuters, ITN and ABC NewsOne.

Qualified applicants will have Bachelors in journalism, or related field, and one (1) year of experience with Media Asset Management Systems. In addition, they will have some experience with broadcast and online journalism, and experience with Avid Composer, Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
