Synopsis: ALEC, the original story created by award winning filmmaker Trevor Chase, is a psychological thriller short film about an artificial intelligence designed to infect itself onto every electronic device on the planet and flag the device if there is illegal activity or malware being written on it. A process that enables authorities to apprehend the user if necessary. Despite international pressure not to release, the small firm made up of recent college graduates launches ALEC to the world. The problem is that when the firm launches ALEC, instead of doing what it was intended to do, it locks down their office and holds them hostage with the threat that it could bring down the entire world’s digitally connected infrastructure if more than one person is still alive at the end of the timer. The film tries to explore the human psyche and morality as the characters are forced to make decisions that may cost them, or others their lives.
