Arlington- WETA ISO: Full Time Television Producer- PAID

Overall Job Objectives

The Television Producer will write, produce and direct local programs and special projects focusing on activities and interests in the WETA-TV viewing area. Working closely with other members of the local production team, including associate producers and production assistants, to manage and plan production and to ensure delivery of high quality, innovative content. The Television Producer will report to the Senior Director, Production & Creative Services.

Principal Responsibilities

Research, write, and produce long-form programs about the Greater Washington area.Investigate and develop new ideas for local projects both independently and with other members of the local production team.

Assure professional quality production and efficient execution of projects by scheduling resources, instructing crews & talent, and coordinating pre and post-production details with appropriate personnel.

Oversee edit sessions, voiceover sessions, and graphic delivery.Work within framework of deadlines, budgets and available resources.

Direct and oversee work by associate producers and production assistants.

Interact with local community members in developing and implementing projects.

Prepare and deliver materials to technical staff for local broadcast.

Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Proven track record of producing entertaining content with compelling visual storytelling.

Strong background in research and writing for television.Knowledge and curiosity about community events, local history and other local interests.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment, in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures.

Excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills, plus the ability to work with a wide range of clients.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Successful experience working within budget guidelines and project deadlines.

Education and Experience

College degree in liberal arts, communications, or film and media studies.

Minimum of five years experience in television production, script writing and post production.

Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
