The 2009 Youth Film Festival

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES ARE NOVEMBER 18, 2009!

Attention all student filmakers currently enrolled in a high school or college during the 2009-2010 school year! This is your oppurtunity to have your shortfilm recognized and showcased for the public to see.

Entries may be submitted in any genre, and content must be deemed appropriate in order to be shown. The film must not exceed 5 minutes in length or run under 30 seconds.

Shortfilms may be shown to the public and may have been previously been viewed or entered into other contests. Public viewing date/time/location has yet been scheduled, but keep in contact with the latest information regarding the festival, and email any questions to leauntrayburch@yahoo.com.

Entries are $10 per shortfilm, and all checks/money orders must be made payable to Le'Auntray Burch at Breaking Wave Entertainment, 235 Forrest Street, Suffolk, VA 23434.

Advertisers and Commercial Makers

Attention All Advertisers & Commercial Makers!

Breaking Wave Entertainment will be debuting "Virginia Shortfilms" in the Hampton Roads area the end of the year, and are currently looking for advertisers and sponsors to help keep the show running.

If you have a commercial that you would like to run during the timeslot, they are personally accepting them and sponsorship. $100 for commercials 30 seconds and under, and $150 for commercials 60 seconds and under. The commercials will run twice during the hour timeslot.

"Kristallnacht and Beyond" Premiere

"Kristallnacht and Beyond" Premiere

On Monday, November 9th, at 7pm, the Virginia Holocaust Museum will premiere "Kristallnacht and Beyond". This is a 50 minute documentary about a local Holocaust Survivor Alexander Lebenstein, and his recent return to his hometown of Haltern am See, Germany.

The video was made by a grant from the Virginia Holocaust Museum and was produced, shot, and edited by Lindsay Stone, a Richmond professional.

The screening is free to the public. No reservations are necessary. After the screening Alex Lebenstein will be available for questions and book signing.

"Walter Gaines' Frequent Response" is the VCU Film Department junior class project. It is a dark comedy that will be shot in and around Richmond, VA winter 2010.

This the first collaborative VCU film shot on 35mm.

CINEviews Film Festival

will showcase ANIMATION for its 5^th Annual CINEviews Film Festival. As in the past with participation by writer/director Mike White (School of Rock, The Good Girl, Year of the Dog), Dylan Baker (Spiderman) Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights) and Paul Fitzgerald, (John Adams) CINEviews will bring the same big star power for which the festival is associated. But this year, the guest star is yellow, porous, and wears pants, in other words, SpongeBob SquarePants.

Standing in for the beloved hero of Saturday mornings is Tuck Tucker, the supervising storyboard director of SpongeBob SquarePants, and the 2009 CINEviews Film Festival Guest of Honor. Mr. Tucker has worked on many different animated television shows and films, including The Simpsons, Jimmy Neutron, The Family Guy, and the Little Mermaid.

The weekend will include an opening night gala, workshops on animation by Tuck Tucker, a video dance party and of course, GREAT FILMS!
