"RUN LIKE HELL"

OPEN casting call to the public for a NEW independent horror film being shot right here in VA!

Local filmmakers need men and women 18 years or older to show up and try for roles in the film. There are plenty of parts available, so come and audition at:

All are welcome to attend the casting call for a NEW Independent Horror Film that will be shot in the local and surrounding areas of Bluefield, Springville and Tazewell County, VA. Applicants must provide 2 proofs of ID-- driver's license, photo ID, birth certificate, etc. This is an independently written, funded, and produced project. Pay will vary depending on the role offered. Extras needed as well.

Stonehenge Mass Audition

Stonehenge, the regional one-day mass audition event for film and video is back in Washington, DC on Sunday, March 28.

Over 100 actors will audition in front of local productions companies and filmmakers looking to cast projects in the coming months.

Pre-registration for actors and filmmakers is mandatory--and actors only have until Saturday, March 13th at 6pm to register. Audition slots are assigned by lottery. Last Stonehenge, every actor on the waitlist wound up getting a slot, but to even get on the waitlist, you need to register.

Since 2005, Stonehenge has helped cast over 500 roles for over 100 projects.

You can be a father-son or brother-brother or brothers-sisters company—or just talented friends that tackle large and small remodeling jobs, new homes, multifamily, anything. We’re looking for larger than life personalities, extraverted attractive professionals in their 20’s, 30’s and youthful 40’s who really know their stuff. Must be credible, passionate & above all, comfortable in front of camera.Trades people, carpenters, hammer and nail as well as business types are welcome. Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center in partnership with the Takoma Park Film Festival presents The Takoma Park/ Silver Spring Experimental Film Festival. This event is a showcase for independent and experimental films from around the world that are visionary, cutting-edge and artistically-inspired.

The Takoma Park/Silver Spring Experimental Film Festival is the Eighth Annual festival to take place in Takoma Park and the First Annual festival under the new leadership of Pyramid Atlantic Art Center.

The festival is a free to submit and free to attend event.

This year's curator is noted experimental filmmaker Chris Henry Lynn.

The team of WILL Interactive, Inc. will premiere the screening of "The War Inside", a groundbreaking video-based simulation that seeks to improve warrior psychological health and arm our soldiers for the battles they often face inside themselves after returning home. During the event, attendees will actually be given the ability to manipulate the course of the video-based simulation through electronic voting.

Produced in collaboration with the Army Medical Department, "The War Inside" demonstrates how WILL Interactive's unique, interactive films allow users to play out real-life scenarios before they live them out. A cross between live-action movies and video games, WILL's programs are focused on ways to affect behavior and help people navigate complex, stressful, and/or unanticipated situations and dilemmas. At this unique event, audience members will experience a cutting-edge training program designed to help U.S. military personnel returning from deployments. Whether you are a camera operator, film executive, game technician, or learning expert, you'll gain a keen sense of how WILL Interactive's leading programs, created for the U.S. military, schools, professional sports leagues, and other American institutions, have influenced a wide range of decision-makers on the most important and challenging issues of today.

VPA SECRETARY NEEDED

The Virginia Production Alliance board is about to hold annual elections of officers for the executive board. This meeting will be held on March 22 at Artworks in Richmond, VA from 6 pm to 8:30 pm.

As the VPA heads into a busy year, the board is in need of a secretary to sit in a policy-making position and handle typical duties of taking minutes and reporting them back. If interested, please contact VPA President Mark Remes at [mark@bestelevision.com] ASAP! In addition, the VPA is searching for Communications volunteers. If you love the fast paced environment of communicating via different channels and platforms, please get on board and contact Mark right away. The James River Film Festival is a celebration of independent film, video and animation. Each Spring the festival brings nationally and internationally-known independent filmmakers to Richmond to screen and discuss their work.

The festival includes retrospectives; film performances with live, original music; and a juried competition of short films. JRFF awards up to $2,000 in cash and prizes – another way RMIC supports and stimulates independent filmmaking.

Most films are $5 at the door, some events and screenings are FREE!

In Search of Director of Photography

Award-winning production team looking for a DP for a feature-length documentary about to start production in the next few weeks in DC. The production is a joint production in the US and South Africa.

Briefly: the film follows kids in DC and South Africa, paired up as "pen pals" exchanging videos, emails, personal stories over the next few months as they are both engaged in sister-programs that use sports to teach AIDS prevention and life skills. DC's AIDS rate now rivals many sub-Saharan African nations - among the worst in the world. The kids from DC will travel to South Africa in June to all meet and go together to the World Cup.

Ideal DP will be available throughout production. Right now we're scheduled to start the week of March 22 and finish shooting in May. After the first two weeks, the DP should be able to carry the shooting on their own, checking in with the kids about once or twice a week. Experience shooting on HD and verite documentaries. Please send links to online reels and rates, with or without equipment. Prefer no DVDs, but email if that is the only way you can send it. If you have your own sound-person you are used to shooting with please forward on information.
