FOR VIRGINIANS

Virginia has a thriving film industry and there are lots of ways to become involved. The Virginia Film Office online hotline has the latest information about film-related projects and events. If you are interested in working in the industry, the “get listed” link will take you to the Virginia Production Services Directory website. If you want your property, town or region to be considered as a film location, it’s easy to submit photos for inclusion in the Virginia Film Office online location library. Students may want to consider applying for one of the Virginia Film Office internships while film fans may want to attend one or more of Virginia’s many film festivals. The “How to Get Involved” link contains information about becoming a production assistant, or extra on a film or television show.

One of the most valuable resources available to the Virginia film community is the Virginia Production Alliance (VPA). This group provides networking events, professional development opportunities, and is a powerful advocate on behalf of the film industry in the state. Visit the VPA website to find out about what’s happening, and consider becoming a member of this important organization.

If you have any questions, or need information about becoming more involved in Virginia’s film and television community, contact the Virginia Film Office at vafilm@virginia.org or 800.854.6233.
