Information about Virginia Weather and Climate

Travel throughout the state and you will find a diverse weather and climate pattern. The weather in the eastern and southern areas tends to be milder in the winter and warmer in the summer. Mountain areas and the western side of the state have snowy winter seasons and are cooler in the summer. The State Climatology Office specializes in information about Virginia weather and climate including essential data on fall foliage, rainfall predictions and drought. It also provides a statewide and regional forecast.

Virginia experiences waterfall evenly distributed throughout the year, with the driest months occurring in the late fall. The state’s beautiful fall colors can be seen throughout the month of October and early November.
